Hello to all the professionals in this group,
I recently started my job about 3 months ago, but I still feel new and have a lot to learn. I’m a staff accountant, and I’m still trying to understand how the accounting concept works at my company. Do you have any recommendations on how to learn more quickly at work? I’m still struggling with answering and understanding emails that come from the Operations team. Thank all for your advices.

We’re talking about entry level staff accountant questions, I wouldn’t worry about hallucinations. Anything it would hallucinate on would be more complex than expected of the staff.

Ask your manager all your questions - don’t worry about asking a “dumb” question. 3 months is still so new, you’ll get the hang of it

Always ask that’s how we learn

That’s something we all deal with everyday especially once there’s a change in management. I’m looking forward a new job.. any referrals.. I have 14 plus years in A/P and A/R along with Administrative experiences too.

Same here. Dealing with operations as a bookkeeper.

I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?

Estimated tax payment question:
I converted $30k of rollover 401k into a Roth IRA and have $26k of realized ST Capital Gains this year (Roth conversion in end of Q1 and most capital gains in Q2).
My total federal withholding tax last year was approximately $12k and this year I will have 40% more in reported income on my employer W2 and anticipate higher that $12k federal withholding for my new job. Given this, what is the best way to go about making est. tax payments for the income (continued.)
