Extra context for you - ACN here but not cloud. The bonus band for L7 (at least in my group) is 0-31%, with the majority between 8-15%. Based on your start date, you likely won’t get a bonus at ACN until November next year (our fiscal year is 9/1-8/31).

My understanding is that due to Slalom’s flat mode, it might be years before you get promoted above SC (I think principle is next). Whether that matters to you depends on what you’d want to do next but the M title is definitely a difference maker for ACN. If you haven’t yet tried to negotiate with S and you’d rather go there, might be worth asking leveraging the ACN offer to see if they’ll bump you up a level.

Can’t really speak to which is better since I am not an engineer or in the cloud space.

likehelpful

It depends on your focus area and where you see yourself in 5 years.

If you have a mentor/leader you like at Accenture go there, else I think Slalom would be a better choice if you can get that salary to 190+.

Tried the negotiation with Slalom but they told me it’s already the upper limit

I’d go Accenture. Being a Manager is better and even if you don’t like it, you’ll have better exit opps with that title.

I’ve heard ACN culture is awful. And I know from experience Slalom is all over the place with little room for advancement. My advice would be to be patient and target industry roles instead. Your base could be the same or slightly lower, but you’ll get RSUs in most cases and better culture most times.

like

I have heard that ACN culture is terrific. It may depend on the practice I suppose. Certain leadership may not be the best but the overall impression I got from my colleagues is that it is a great culture for the industrious.

It’s a pay cut if u go to slalom. The benefits are worst, you pay more for health insurance and crappier 401k. Accenture also gives you espp and as a manager and above ur qualified for 2 types of bonuses. Slalom gives you more community and wlb.

like

Slalom bonus is unlikely to break 12-15%- benefits get trashed on FB but I am a recent B4 refugee and I find them reasonably comparable. Annual merit increases at Slalom don’t compare at all- better elsewhere, but in a year I have worked maybe 2 weekends compared to 3 out of nearly every 4 on average at B4. I also generally don’t work nights anymore and working til 8-12 was standard at B4. Working that late is really unusual. So if you are primarily looking for cash, ACN will probably mostly beat Slalom. If you are looking for WLB- Slalom is going to be more likely a better bet. And Slalom won’t ask you to travel- almost all client work is local, so you lose your miles but get back your Sunday night at home. You will also hear a lot here about Tier one through whatever, but I work for the same clients as I did with B4 doing similar transformation projects, so- the status to clients is similar.

#1. Not sure why this is a tie?

Why not?

Is that a normal salary for L7? I am joining a L9 at 130 in a MCOL city, Applied Intelligence practice. Was I low balled?

Thanks for the reply. I was confused there for a second and had to negotiate hard for my comp. recruiter was really nice and patient with me, which helped out a lot.

I have a phone screen interview with AWS for the position of Systems Engineer with the Linux team early next week. I’ve been a Sys Admin for the last 4 years, and I’m not very well-versed with coding. The phone screen does have whiteboard coding, any tips on what I could do to prepare for this? I’m not sure if I can let the interviewer know I’m not too strong with coding. I do want to take up the challenge, and also find out if the role would require extensive coding though. Any tips?

Anyone else kind of bored clerking? I liked law school and thought I liked research and writing, but so far this district court clerkship has been pretty boring—lots of state law issues that are poorly briefed. Though to be fair, most of my time has been spent on one big case that I’m 99% sure is going to settle but not until the eve of trial bc that’s plaintiff’s counsel’s m.o.; so my work resolving the insane number of SJ and Daubert motions seems like a waste of my time.
