TCS is the worst company one can be in.
Cheap mindset management cares more about timesheet, wfo, forceful mandatory trainings, imposing strict restrictions on laptop, access to personal docs only via vpn,no employee well being no salary hikes nth at all.90% projects filled with freshers coz they cost less.No WLB for good dedicated hard working employees as they are punished with more and more work, leaves rewards mostly for people who don’t work. But no issues kyunki job security hai 😂
Drinks in SF anyone?

Great offer from sfdc imho
What’s the role?
I was a bit surprised too. It’s senior tech arch for Marketing Cloud
It's a no brainier.
Go do the hard work for a couple years then exit to a slower paced job for similar pay (which will be easier bc if the brand recognition and skills gained).
Since you're engaged (congratulations!) You'll want to build with the increased income even if it's briefly. Then you can strategize together.
Just make sure to keep your living standards the same during this period. If you do that and focus on savings & investments, you'll be way better off (plus the married taxes benefits).
I’d say take the CSG role, but be prepared to work on multiple projects. That role is understaffed, so I can’t see them getting rid of you in a downturn. If you don’t like it, you can leave in a couple of years. But most people have families here & I’ve even seen folks block out time for school and daycare pick-up/drop-off.
I came from Big4 and I was told I’d need to work on 2 projects maximum. Total lie. Things have gotten better, as far as how projects are sold. But I always warn people, it often takes AT LEAST 3 projects to get 40 hours in MC. At one point, I had over 5. Probably wouldn’t have joined if I knew that.
Odds are you probably aren’t under qualified for either :) congrats on the offer! Do you know if they have a project ready for you at SF?
Salesforce is the safer bet, also better benefits and clearly better comp, but I would make sure that you’re going to be staffed when you join
It honestly sounds like your answering your own question, it’s okay to not always take the bigger paycheck but just be honest with yourself about why you aren’t.
Either way man your making great money, even if your in cali or ny somewhere else expensive, $200K+ is enough. It’s okay to not always chase the bigger bucks
Salesforce had a recent hiring freeze, but I’m going to assume this offer is grandfathered in or something?
But either way, money isn’t everything. If they have a great team and it’s chill work 🤷♂️
Their hiring freezes almost never apply to CSG
A lot of people in CSG have been complaining recently about WLB, projects etc., so you might want to speak with some of the consultants first
Spotify’s WLB and culture is one of the best in tech. It’s a no brainer if you value the above the most!
Check about promotion options at Spotify…once promoted, you could be making the same as SF
For what it’s worth, I really enjoyed my time in services as a consultant. My move internally was aligned with my growth plans, but I’d absolutely go to services again for the right role. Work life balance is about communicating clearly and setting boundaries. Agree with some of the advice above - even if this is just for a couple of years, you’ll set a good benchmark for your expected salary. Oh and there’s nothing like SF on your LinkedIn for networking…
Either way, congrats on two great offers and good luck making the decision.
Where did you go to internally?
Curious, did you get recruited, referred or did you apply?
I applied
Seems like WLB in services is really hit or miss. However this goes with any org, project or team
Salesforce
Sales force just laid off a ton of people. But they always need sales.
Go with Spotify, but the SF offer seems really good! CSG is tough, and agree you might be promoted in Spotify and have better comp and wlb. Listen to yourself and you’ll make the right choice.
CSG is hot mess. Save yourself the aggravation.
What are your priorities for the next few years (ex starting family, increasing comp)?
Not starting a family just yet, but I’m engaged so not too far down the road. I’m looking to expand my circle of friends and build a larger professional network.
What’s the SF title? Dir?
Senior Technical Architect - Marketing Cloud
