PE and VC firms can be horribly unaware of what a reasonable offer is for experienced consultants esp in operations and analytics roles. My friend was offered the same salary we were Analysts fresh out of school. She ended up negotiating a 10% bump from where her current salary. They just didn’t know and did no research. It’s good to have that conversation and manage expectations. If you’re moving to London, the the pay is lower than NYC (US in general)
I'm assuming you're at manager level at BCG? I agree this feels low. I would personally negotiate for £100k base and a significant bonus. Carry is less likely for junior levels in ops, but no harm in asking. Definitely ask for a signing bonus (£10-15k min).
At the end though you'll need to also consider progression and culture, that may influence how far you stay on, and could shift the equation.
