Hi, a startup recently approached me for a marketing position. I asked how many members were in the team, and the HR replied 5. However, during the interview, the marketing manager claimed that most of the team members had left, and he had also joined 3 months back. It seemed fishy, but I went ahead with the interviews. Then, HR forced me to shift to Gurgaon but I did not budge and then they were okay with my current place of stay and travel. Is it normal for startups to behave this way?

1: EY - FDD, home city, very good $$ for FDD

2: PwC - post-merger integration, DDV team (essentially M&A Consulting) - bigger city, always been keen to move

Coming as a Senior in Audit, with recent FDD exposure (2 deals, obviously not much). I was looking for something more than just number crunching, wanting a mix of quant / quali / strategic work. M&A Advisory or a Corp Strategy role is where I'm looking to end up long term.
