Sorry, you haven't gotten much feedback here, but honestly, this is great work! I wouldn't worry as far as the amount of content you have. My belief is that more is better, as it gives more chances to block any client objections. "I don't know if he can do ___ style, or ____ medium" well, you have projects for that show you do exactly those. That being said, I would save one great-looking piece of work to show later in the sales process, just in case the client is having cold feet, you can always send them a "random" case study to help push them over the edge.

Some suggestions though:
Minor nitpick, but from an accessibility standpoint, I'd always still have a home button, even if the logo leads there anyways.

Secondly, add calls to action and a contact section (even if it's just the best way to get in contact with you.) Your portfolio is essentially a sales pitch. On the hero section, I'd add some quick copy about how you've been able to transform brands or something of the like and add a simple button that says "Get in touch" or something like that. Conversion rates will likely shoot up.

Right now, if I was a potential client, my only option would be to contact you via LinkedIn or Dribble. Both of which are not approachable, and even worse, lead directly to a VAST sea of other potential designers, taking clients away from you.

Next, even if you only have two case studies, make those apparent and guide them to those in particular, don't just rely on visitors happening to select the first two. Even if it means (like I've seen other portfolios do) just adding a "case studies" section or page, do that, and even add that as a secondary button in the hero section. It's okay to only have a few case studies, especially since they take a TON of work, and you have a lot of other projects to prove your designer chops. You only need a few to prove your designer mindset and process.

Finally, I wouldn't exactly put forth the detail that every project has a different process. Clients like reliability and consistency, they want to reduce risk and maximize results. If you have a "proven process," (no matter how vague) that's solid gold to clients.

Sorry for the rant, it's just really nice to see a portfolio SO close, it's just begging for clients. Great work!

So here's the deal: I've been in the industry for 8 years now—and I still feel my best work is my spec work. Is there a point at which it's simply no longer appropriate to show spec work in a book?

I see this question about how to display side projects often, so putting this out there for anyone who might find it useful:

There’s no such thing as side projects, in my eyes. Every project is an opportunity to display your creativity, and the few you’re most proud of make it to your book. Generally, the consensus these days is that we want our advertising to not look/feel like advertising. So, why should you be concerned to separate what was and wasn’t “advertising?”
