Hi everyone, I’d like some advice on career direction. I’m currently an senior Associate in Assurance at a Big 4 and considering a move into either Sustainable Finance or Valuation as my next step.

My long-term goal is to transition into Asset Management or PE/VC. Which path would you recommend as a stronger foundation, and what are the key advantages or trade-offs of each?

Is job hopping considered a horrible thing for your career? I was at my first job for 2 years and been at my current one for 9 months and I’m looking for a change since it’s not a good fit.

If my staff lied about his work experience and has slipped up sometimes about it, do I call him out? Then what do I do about it afterwards?

I have issues “delegating” or simply assigning tasks, which as a Manager is a whole thing. Like I feel “bad” asking my people to do things that i know i can do but shouldn’t because it’s not up to me. When I assign a task i try to be super clear with instructions, give examples, help them get started…but I still feel bad. Idk. Anyone goes through this?

What level and service line were you at the big 4, and what percent salary increase did you get once you left? I’m a S1>S2, and the offers I’m seeing are around 10%-15% higher, which feels a little low. But maybe I’m being unrealistic.

I’m not from an English speaking country but I am watching a tv show and businessmen walk into a room and instead of greeting eachother, everyone says each person’s first name in lieu of hi, however in my experience working in the states, I haven’t seen anyone do this, it’s always hi or good afternoon or some other greeting first THEN they say their first name. is it also appropriate to omit the greeting?

For those that work at big4, does maternity leave benefit only kick in if you’ve worked for the firm for at least a year? Or does it apply immediately?
