Hi everyone, I’m planning to buy a property in Seattle soon. Do you have any suggestions on areas I should avoid?

If the address has S in it, make sure you check the area really well. And avoid anything close to Aurora Av.

Seattle has conveniently consolidated all of the culture of the city south of I-90.

South Seattle is great, ignore these ignorant white people telling you to avoid.

That's a very individual question and depends on what you want to do while you're here. I don't have any blanket "you should avoid" neighborhoods because I've lived in a lot of different neighborhoods other people have labeled "dangerous" (one that was one block off of Aurora) and had some peaceful years there with lovely neighbors. Generally the Central District and south of downtown are districts where people of color were relegated due to redlining. Lots of the neighborhoods in that area are pretty safe, for city neighborhoods, and to paint them all with one brush is to really dismiss the long time residents who have made these neighborhoods real villages. If you want something that will grow in value, look carefully into these neighborhoods. If you want a place that feels safe for a family, you might want to look at West Seattle and North of downtown. If you want a country feel but want to be in commute distance of the city, look at the smaller towns around Seattle. If you're artistic or very into culture, you might prefer a more active area, like Capitol Hill, or Ballard.

That said, I've lived in a safe neighborhood in West Seattle, and there was a drive-by shooting on our quiet street. So, no area is better or worse than another, IMO. Just depends on what you're looking for.

What are you looking for in a property/neighborhood?

Columbia City - Avoid that area. Othello etc. that entire belt is bad.

Feel free to reach out to me. I am a realtor as well

My colleague is going on maternity leave for 4 months and I was asked to cover some of her projects which are step up in responsibility than what I’m currently operating at. Advice for Of Counsel roles? I am of counsel at a firm where I can set my own rate and keep a percentage of collections, which varies slightly depending on whether the client is one I generated or not. I’m finding that a lot of my work is for firm clients where the lawyer negotiated a flat fee (and the hours worked are less, due to efficiency etc). What is the right way for me to be compensated in this scenario?

Looked at a house (new build) and MIL said the vinyl windows imply the whole house is probably made with cheap, shoddy materials. She thinks everything has to be wood Marvin windows or bust. Is she right? From my research vinyl has its pros too... as long as we aren’t paying like they are wood marvins. Any reactions?

Hi Guys,
Can someone refer me in JPMC , I have 3.10 YOE in core PMO. TIA

When are the layoffs going to start? Anybody care to wager a bet?

Any tips for hard launching partners on social media? For context, I’ve (Indian American female) been dating my white American boyfriend for 3 years and we just got engaged after two years of convincing my parents. They are very happy and excited now, but I’m scared shitless about being ostracized / judged by my extended family and Indian community in the US once I “let the cat out of the bag” on the engagement news. I want to be proud and confident about this but could use some moral support.

Idk if it’s due to Covid, Seattle freeze, a combination of the two or other factors. Any transplants out there who are NOT the outdoorsy type and feel the same? And if so, how did you get past it?
