my current basic pay is 16k(ctc:5
25 lpa ) , as I'm switching to other company,my new basic pay is 40k ( CTC:10.5 lpa ) .

Is this basic pay is higher or is it okay ? And could you please help me to understand the pros and cons of higher basic pay,please.

How mature is the PE industry in emerging markets (SEA, Africa, Latin America, etc). Just limited to mega funds or could one break in without IB experience? Based in US currently

So for those that lived in NY and moved to LA, what are your thoughts? What do you like, don't like, what do you miss? Are the people really that different?

I love how connected & convenient NY is. It always feels lively (bar covid) & it's easy to find something to do but I always wanted to give LA a shot, even if it's for a year. Nice weather year round, film industry, the beach, more space all seem like pros. Doesn't really feel like a city though. I imagine the lifestyle change is a big one.

I was at an event where one attorney told 1Ls “If you want biglaw, you will eventually get it,”even if you strike out in school.” I was just taken aback since some of these students weren’t from schools that normally place into biglaw (e.g., T4). She went to my school, and I agree with her that, if you want biglaw with a JD from my school, you will probably eventually get it. I know lateraling in later on is an avenue a lot of people take, but is it really easy for everyone to eventually get?
