Hi Glassdoor community, I need advice on starting a Data Analyst career or as a statistician. I earned an MSc in Statistics in 2023, with a project in R. I've had a resume gap since graduating.I thought of upskilling by learning Python, SQL,Tableau and other tools but I failed and I'm back to 0 rn. Idk what I need to do rn? How do I explain my gap in interviews? Any tips for building a portfolio or finding entry-level roles? How do I get back on track Thanks for your help!

Don't be so hard on yourself! Resume gaps are super common, especially post-graduation. Frame it positively: "focused on skill development and exploring analytics tools." Start small - pick ONE tool (Python + pandas) and build 2-3 portfolio projects. Your MSc + R experience is solid foundation! For resume optimization and gap explanations, consider tools like WahResume to help structure your story. You're not at zero - you have a graduate degree! 💪📈

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?
