I've been using COBRA to retain my insurance plan. However, the premium is very expensive under COBRA. Just to give you an idea - $1700+/month for a family of 3.
If anyone has information on alternative insurance for self-employed, please share it on this thread. I've been doing independent consulting since I got laid off.
Healthcare.gov the plans would be based on your income.
COBRA is the most expensive since your employer is no longer paying any of the costs. Healthcare.gov for the marketplace in your state.

Did they give you CORBA. Every employer who has offered medical insurance usually provide CORBA coverage . CORBA is supposed to continue coverage for a month after you get laid off. Also, if your lay off date was 1 day into the month that your were laid off , you would
get coverage for that month. For eg. Let’s say my last date at work was Dec 1st. Then I get insurance for Dec because my salary for that 1 day would have paid for the premium.
After that, you can continue to buy the same insurance but at a higher price. You can also shop around for cheaper insurance with lower premiums .

You can shop around for cheaper insurance. Sorry about the typos.
