McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

Ooooh that is so tough. Those are both such good offers! I would definitely recommend Honeywell. They have such good culture their and the benefits are amazing. I think it is just a really great place to work overall.
You haven't given us a lot to go on here, but from what I can tell - you have the wrong mentality about this situation. You should pick between the two offers based on what you think you will enjoy doing more; if that happens to be working at Honeywell, does it outweigh the pay at AMEX? It may be wise to start at AMEX either way; you'll get the money and a foot in the door of a more lucrative industry - if you decide you don't like it, you can leave and do something else, with a more comfortable bank account.
What you seem to be thinking is how you can get to the top, for the sake of being at the top. I can guarantee you that that mentality will not make you any friends or admirers in your professional career, both of which are critical to getting into a C-level position at an established company. You need to genuinely enjoy what you are doing, because you will be working yourself to the bone doing it. If you find yourself in an industry you don't particularly care for - it will show. You won't be riding a rocket to the top like that. Of course, you can always start your own firm with all the risks that entails and start out C-level there - you better know what you're doing if you want that to work out.
Leadership isn't just C-level. There are leaders all the way down. After you've had a few years of experience, try to get yourself into a lead role for a specific project. Eventually move on to having a few direct reports. You'll be able to move up into positions of more responsibility with more experience. Heck, you may find that you don't like managing people and want to stay technical - totally valid.
I see what you are saying… I enjoy working with people and was thinking that the more I work with people the more people skills will increase which eventually can open more door.
I think Amex will be a better choice since I am having more interest in the financial industry.
But thanks for your advice
First, congratulations! If I were to choose, I'd go for American Express. I know the WLB, culture and career opportunities are great.
