Looking to transition out of Management Consulting and going into big tech in NYC. Ideally, I would love to go in as a PMM; however I’ve heard it’s very difficult to make that jump if you don’t have a degree in engineering or CS (I’m a liberal arts graduate and in the final year of a part-time mba). Should I look to apply as a program manager role since it’s more likely my consulting experience will apply to that and see if I can transition into a PMM role from there?

Fun question: if you have green card, which industry / role would you like to switch to? (and what is your current industry / role btw)

I see a lot of people saying that product managers don’t make as much as engineering managers, which is probably true at the middle management levels, but at the Director/VP levels it seems like product pulls way ahead. I’m trying to pivot from my current engineering manager position but want to make sure that I’m not making the wrong move. Opinions? There’s been some posts on the best planning tools (e.g. planners, calendars, etc.), but my question is how do ppl make sure they use them? I get them and am excited about the possibility of them helping for about a week then I just stop using it. Even if I find it helpful I just never stay consistent with it. Does this happen to others? Any tricks or suggestions to stay consistent using planners, to do lists, calendars, etc.
