Hi, I’m looking to lateral to a local market and I saw a reputable local firm is hiring. They are looking for experience levels 2 years higher than me. I worked with a high ranking partner there last year for a deal (he was our local counsel). I will apply to this position. Should I email him or the HR? What should I say in the email? Or should I ask him for an informational interview first?

I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?
