Hi, I'm wondering if it's worth becoming a notary public. I'm working on a paralegal certificate right now. I'd like to work in disability or immigration law.

Can’t say if it’s worth it from the standpoint OF the notary, but as an attorney, it’s always a huge plus when the paralegals I work with are also notaries. Saves a TON of time whenever circumstances arise where you may need one!

I second this. All of the paralegals at my office are also notaries.

Yes it worth it

There’s certainly no harm in it and it may give you an advantage when you’re looking into paralegal jobs. It’s also not a difficult or expensive process to become a notary.

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?
