Hi folks, how is thoughtworks as an organisation?
Asking because I don't know much about it and have received recruiter's call today. Currently I am working in Deloitte. How is thoughtworks hikes, wlb, does it provide any benefits apart from fixed pay? My research gives me a mixed review: some say it's good, some say that thoughtworks is not stable enough like big 4 or other organisations. Pls help Thoughtworks Deloitte

I was hired at 7mo pregnant and got full coverage.
Every company has a different policy but you typically need to be somewhere for 12 months before maternity benefits kick in…meaning…you can take the time off (legally they have to let you) but it won’t be paid.
Also…it is no one’s business if you are pregnant. If you ever feel as though you aren’t being hired for the role due to the circumstances it is VERY illegal. You are better off not disclosing. Although…expect your new role to be privately frustrated over the situation. They will never verbally share that…or at least they shouldn’t…but…they are human.
I would stay at your current job and see how you balance the new role. I ended up pregnant at a new company less than a year in and found that as I transitioned into motherhood my work environment became hostile. For instance things like justifying bathroom breaks, breastfeeding, navigating childcare and getting off in time up for daycare pickups. Ultimately you will pressure test your new situation and how you handle you balancing your new responsibilities.
Also you don’t have to disclose to a recruiter.
Also…worth noting…I live in the USA…no idea if you aren’t there.
Hi. If you are in the US, there are leave-related laws that give you protected time out of the office (FMLA and CFRA if in CA). In order to qualify for them you must have been at your company for at least a year. That means beyond your disability (which typically lasts 6-8 weeks) the rest of your time off will not be legally protected. Each company will have different rules about their pay/benefits for maternity leave and when they kick in so make sure to ask. You do not have to disclose that you are pregnant but get the specifics on what maternity leave entails and how long you have to be there to receive it. Sometimes Recruiters don't know the details so they may need to send you their leave policies.
I worked in HR and facilitated leaves so very familiar with the legal aspect. Hit me up if you have any further questions!
Do you ever find parental leave to be negotiable if you’re looking to get hired while pregnant? Say, take less compensation for access to parental leave benefits if you’ll have worked there less than a year by the time baby comes?
