My Salesforce certifications helped a lot more than any PM related certifications
Been working freelance. My site. Some Java. Wanna get way better.
1. Get involved and actually care about the people, don’t only address your team during status meetings but get to know them. Be part of the team.
2. Get to know the solution, ask questions, find the techie that loves to explain concepts.
One extra thing that has helped me a lot is to understand the boundaries of the project and give the devs/qa the “timeline control” of their own tasks. This gives them ownership, develops partnership with you and creates accountability on their end, it will also allow you to be transparent with them when you can’t push a date back or negotiate a deadline. Makes them part of the planning process instead of them being just task takers from the project manager.
Yes 100% agree on these! The most success I have seen with teams I have worked with started with just asking the right questions and coaching them towards solutions with Socratic questioning. They know the answers: not my job to prescribe!
Do art skill help? Not been using everything. Running form new programs. On an iPad.
Personally, I would really appreciate art skills on a technical team. I wade through so much code, when I know a diagram or a picture would be a huge help.
