How are things at BDO? Especially at manager level. What should I watch out for and what’s most important to get better raise at year end? What are some good perks that I should look out for. TIA

You ever see the guys who pick up the crap behind horses during a parade? It’s like that at BDO right now.

Having the debt seems to be worse than PE equity ownership. there’s no incentive to invest in the business when you have expensive debt to pay quickly. The cost cutting article showcases how much cost cutting is happening.

A bit of a rough patch right now but still a good place to work. Tax is doing well & is busy, as long as you hit your annual hours goal and manage your engagements properly, you should get good reviews. Firm financials are adding some pressure but it’s all part of the public accounting ride

I’m currently at a studio that has been good to me. They took a chance and allowed me to change career paths. They gave me numerous opportunities that lead me to now, being the head of a department. The big guys at the top has expressed they could see me as the guy to run the company one day but it’s all talk and possibilities right now. I’ll have to wait for now. On the other hand, I have an offer in hand from a much bigger company to be part of their business development. Any advice?

I’m 25 and have found a duplex I’m considering purchasing as a rental property. Planning on renting both units and have the cash to make the down payment without an issue. My cash flow analysis has a payback period of 3 years for my down payment and a 13 year payback period for the whole investment. I think financially it makes sense. My question is, is it realistic for a 25 year old young professional to handle dealing with all the extra curricular’s that come with owning a rental property ?

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?
