As a general rule, you can negotiate anything as long as you’re willing to walk away
your salary expectation convo does not equal what they will offer. It’s typically a gauge to see if you are aligned before moving further. See what the offer is first. Then make a case for more if warranted (but need something to back it up)
Can you explain that for a more senior role your expectation is X because it involves more responsibilities? I don’t think anyone would expect someone to want the same salary for an analyst role v manager role.
