How can I negotiate a salary when I answered the “salary expectations” question in the recruiter screening? I answered before I learned the recruiter actually thought a more senior role was a better fit for me. Now, looking at the job description for the recommended role, I’ve realized the salary range is about $20,000 more than what I initially shared.
If I receive an offer, is there potential to negotiate the pay in this job climate? If so, how should I do that?

Our firm told everyone no bonuses this year due to the pandemic. However, people like myself with high utilization received a “bonus” in terms of a gift card. My director notified me of this, but the other day my boss was mentioning how no bonuses this year really sucks. I was told by the director to not mention it to anyone but I figured if anyone knew I got one it’d be my boss. I feel super uncomfortable now because do I essentially lie to my boss because I’m not supposed to talk about it.
