I got the double stroller, my kids are 16 months apart and I will say we rarely use it. Two reasons 1. The toddler just wants to run around 2. Maneuvering the double stroller with the weight of the toddler is not easy so preferable is two single strollers or baby wearing when toddler needs to use the double stroller so I wouldn’t recommend buying it.
Following! My first will be 3 when my second is born and I bought an expensive Nuna single when he was born (thinking I’d be one and done, oops!). If anything I think Id get a ‘cheap’ double. Deff not forking out $1000 for an Uppababy or Nuna this time around lol. Curious to hear what experienced moms have to say!
Was also thinking we would be one and done, hah! Plans change!
Depends on the kid. Our oldest was 2 yrs 5 mo when the second was born, but he strongly prefers to walk everywhere. We have the Vista, but didn't even bother to get the jump seat. He rides the piggyback sometimes, but usually walks.
OP, our toddler and new LO will be the exact same ages! I don't plan on upgrading, especially because I'll be due in the winter. I'll play it by ear by spring/summer time but doubt I'll need a double
My first two have that age gap and it was 100% necessary for the first year, but my first is a sloth and was jealous of the baby. My second likes walking more but also won’t be surprised if he has big feelings about seeing a new sibling in the stroller and we’ll do the double for a bit again.
Was very necessary for us (with a similar age gap), but I got one second hand.
We ended up getting the double with the same age gap. Our oldest likes to walk but she is out with the nanny all day and inevitably will want to ride later. We also went to Europe and took the double so one adult could take both kids out (easier to contain both) while the other one worked.
My toddler is 2.5 yo and my second is 6 months. Got the uppababy vista used for $350 on FB marketplace (two seats plus standing board). Toddler still wants to sit on the stroller sometimes cause she sees baby sitting and wants stand on the board too. Other times she walks. I didn’t feel guilty about the $$ spent since we didn’t buy new.
I’ve also worn baby and just walked with toddler depending on where we are/ what we’re doing.
Good to have options!
We got a single to double right out the gate (mockingbird) and then just added the bassinet when #2 was born. I would say it’s nice to have but definitely not a need. If you don’t want to upgrade, you’ll be just fine. Agree with baby wearing when #1 wants to stroll and/or letting them walk when #2 is strolling.
Other idea - could you add a rumble board to your existing stroller? Makes it a double in a way
I’d add - I find more often I drop my Nuna car seat into my Nuna trvl and let #1 walk for most outings as they’re quick. I really only use the double if we are going to be out for a while. Throw the carrier in the basket for some flexibility
F!
