Any Deloitte people trade on robin hood?
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Very rare.
You normally need to show you can function at a level to get promoted to that level, which generally isn’t possible if you’re switching firms. Plus you’re giving up your internal network; there are new admin processes to learn, etc. All of which takes time.
Most SM moves I’ve seen the person actually moves as manager, then gets promoted the next year. This way they can transition more seamlessly into their clients.
More common at lower lvls (see assoc to senior all the time) but less so the higher you go. But all dependent on skills, experience, and business need
It depends
I’ve seen a ton of people get bumped from associate to senior, or senior to manager, but not so much at higher levels
I think what everyone here is trying to say is that M->SM promos are rare.
It’s pretty common for A->SA. Less common but happens for SA->M.
Virtually never happens for M->SM.
Direct entry partners and MDs are a thing still, and with the expansion of the MD role in tax and audit is becoming a lot more common.
I got a SM title when coming over as a M from another big 4 but i had worked with the partner that came over previously
I’ve had two colleagues leave and get a m>sm bump in tax.
