How do we feel about these comments from Lizzo? I love her and agree the movement was co-opted and commercialized...but wasn’t she also part of that wave? She seriously benefited from it while becoming a mainstream icon. And after the scandal with her dancers, does she still have the credibility to define what the movement should be? Genuinely interested in how others feel about this shift.

I get where she’s coming from, body positivity has definitely been commercialized, but yeah, she was a huge part of making it mainstream. It’s fair to question if she can now distance herself from it. And after the controversy with her dancers, her credibility is murky. Curious how others see it, valid critique or deflection?

It’s hard to separate the message from the messenger, especially after everything with the dancers. But I largely agree that the movement has been devolved quite a bit.
