You can’t give everyone and everything in your life 100% - prioritize what needs you the most
Evidently you are taking on too much but the question I would ask is why are you taking on so much?
For example the side hussles what are they and are they necessary? Is there a way you can restructure your work to fit your lifestyle?
I would also consider speaking to a councillor about this because working yourself to this level of exhaustion is concerning and if your partner is also pointing it out it’s going to take a toll on more than just your mental health
I just left a position that expected me to work a lot of hours. In fact, PTO was just another word that really meant, "I'll be working remotely." I have made a lot of people a lot of money. I am starting my 2nd side hustle and plan to expand that into a full time business.
I’m not sure that I understand the infatuation people have with side hustles. Most people will do better at their job (and earn a higher salary/perhaps a promotion) when they focus at work. Also, the side hustle eats into family time. Spreading yourself too thin is a recipe for not being good at anything. Drop the hustle. If you need a better job to cover the lost income, get one. Be present at work when working and home when at home. Your stress will dissipate.
Fair point on the job comment
It depends on what your side hustle entails. I spend, on average, 3 hours a month tops and get an additional $20k year. The easy money is too easy to give up. That money pays for trips and bills.
I know that’s right! Side hustles should not be a headache 🤕. Congrats 🎊
For the people who are curious, my side hustles are tailoring and painting. I'm prepping for the one art fair I do a year, and I have maybe 3 clients rn for my tailoring business. I think that one may be the one I need to cut back on...
What a wonderful and useful skill. Even though you're thinking about pulling back, it's pretty cool you've found unique options for enjoyment outside of work
We all have a finite amount of time, energy and willpower. The only answer is to do less, after figuring out what is the most important / impactful. Why are you doing so much, what is it offering you? Is it really worth the burnout?
Check your HR document. What are your options for a sabbatical or a short leave? Is their real income in these side hustles? If so focus on them while on sabbatical. 3-6 months including pto or comp days. Def read your employer’s handbook & check options good luck 🍀
Agree you need to prioritize and only worry about what is within your control.
