Just leave
I don’t want to let one person be the reason I leave something good but it does make work more draining for me.
Leadership acknowledged their faults and at first seemed to be handling the issues (attitude issues were addressed and have stopped even though you can tell it’s forced/fake niceness now). However, their performance still sucks and now it seems like when I bring issues up, leadership doesn’t want to hear about it and leaves me feeling like nothing is being addressed. I don’t want to leave as I like everything else minus working with this person, but not sure how I can continue to handle this person when nothing seems to be done.
Document everything and ask for leadership's support to replace / backfill them?
This has been ongoing for about a year and a half. I’ve documented and shared with leadership and have continued to share as problems arise, even small ones at this point. In the beginning, it seemed like they were handling it but lately my concerns seem to fall on deaf ears (even when I was originally directed to inform them as things occurred). This person also does things in front of leadership and it seems they just put up with it as nothing changes.

This is what I sort of thought they were going to implement because things were pretty bad but it’s been nearly a year and a half of this. Now it seems like they are just putting up with it. It’s very frustrating.
In this market no one is letting anyone go so find a way to use that warm body or find a way to make do without one.
Unfortunately I think this is the reason they are keeping the person around. We are down one person already so they don’t want to willingly lose another. It’s really unfortunate and frustrating.
And it’s not like I want to see someone lose their job but this person doesn’t just suck from a performance perspective, they suck in professionalism and their behavior. It’d be one thing if they were nice and helpful, had a great attitude and just weren’t cutting it. They suck all around lol
