How do you deal with a sole practitioner lawyer on the other side of a corporate transaction who only wants to talk on the phone about revisions (not really adding substance to comments already in the doc), can’t take a hint to send them over when I’m unavailable so calls/texts multiple times when not receiving an immediate response, and emails on a Friday late afternoon that they will be drafting docs and to look out for them over the weekend?

As far as not adding substance: "if you want changes I'm going to need a redline so we can be on the same page about what your client is requesting."

About the phone calls / emails at inconvenient times: they get to communicate at a time that works for them, and you get to respond reasonably soon at a time that works for you. Not a big deal here.

I'm confused how the oc being a sole practitioner has anything to do with this. I'm also confused by your expectation that they only call when you're available. I don't know anyone other attorneys schedules, I call when I need to talk to them. If they arent available, they get back to me. That's how phones work.

Hi new here. Idk what my value is and if I’m getting paid an amount that reflects my hard work. I am a paralegal for a small law firm (family and immigration) w only 1 attorney. I have about 20 files or more in my rotation at a time. I work on various types of cases at once. Some are simple, others are extensive. I feel like it’s very unstructured and one of the managers micromanages. It’s like every man for himself. Take home pay is $50k. I am working on my bachelors deg. Do I get paid enough?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be? For reference, the firm has a 1900 billable hour requirement and the partner said I would have “no problem” fulfilling that based on the work they have.
