You need to quit. No way I’m training someone from outside the company to do a job I should be doing and getting compensated for it.
I feel like it's time to find a new job. If a department can function for 5 months while they look for a manager they shouldn't be hiring. They should be promoting! If they don't see your worth after that then they never will.
Bad
Taking in consideration only what you wrote here, agree, you need to change the employer. your employer does not see you as a manager, you are wasting time. Try to get a proper review to understand what you are missing in their view and work on areas of improvement while searching.
Agreed with Accounting Finance Manager 1 above. Get with your manager and see what you are missing and how to bridge that gap.
Went through a very similar situation a few years back. They created an AR supervisor position for a person from the company we merged with just to have somewhere to stick them and not lay them off. To top it off, the person had no accounting education or background. Watching them attempt to use excel, or any computer program for that matter, was physically painful for me. Few months into that arrangement and they attempted to place me on a PIP because of work being behind. I found something new and left as soon as possible.
Quit ASAP.. your employer is using you and doesn’t value you
That was me last year. I left! It was the best decision! They’re still struggling to find a “good fit”
Any advise on this?
I'm currently living this. CFO retired in March. I've been doing that job plus mine. No extra pay, no bonus, nothing... just 5 months of 60+ hour weeks, trying to get the books closed, cleaned up, and through audit.
New CFO started 3 weeks ago and he has no clue or interest in how things are done. He keeps trying to change his things are done without understanding why they're done the way they've been done.
I've updated my resume and am actively looking to get out. It hurts, though, realizing the total lack of appreciation.
I suggest you start looking, too. People suck.
You should have been promoted to manager. You need to leave this company as soon as possible. They don't value your contributions and expertise.
