Can i get some idea on what are current market trends for candidates with 5 yrs of SOC experience applying for cybersecurity roles like security officer or GRC related as well as consultant roles?

Went for a pre-employment drug test yesterday. They never asked me if I was on any medications. I had to ask them and was told "oh yeah, just put any you may think make a difference in this text box." I put Xanax, Flexeril, and gabapentin. All of which are prescribed and used as directed. Now I'm terrified that I should have put ALL my meds, to including my psych meds. I've been sober over 12 years and never touched drugs (just booze) but I'm having a full blown panic attack.

Not many people seem to care about those agency of the year titles anymore. Especially in the past 2 to 3 years. Even to the winners. Right?

I might get a lot of shade for this but tbh I never understood the hype of big fours. I feel I would have just been a slave there. Why would anyone trade their time and time with family for slave hours and money that you could make having your own thing or somewhere else? Everybody sounds miserable at big fours. What’s ur take?

Dumb questions but genuinely curious:

1) Let’s say you’re a recent undergrad candidate with no internships on your resume. What’s the deciding factor that you’re qualified for Advisory vs Tax vs Audit? Is it school, gpa, etc.?

2) Why can’t you switch from Tax to another SL without having to pull strings? I understand that there’s a difference in tax vs book experience but why does the Accounting field gatekeep other SLs? It’s not like we’re incapable of learning other areas.

What do managers and above think about seniors with expensive shoes and handbags? Thinking of investing in a very nice everyday bag.

I was told to watch my time as the client doesn’t like to pay these fees, and the partner is unhappy because it looks like I have high hours. Is the message that I should eat my time?
