Bain & Company I received an offer to join Bain & Company for SF office but due to family reasons, I will have to stay in the South Bay. Given Bain’s local staffing model, it will be challenging for me to commute to SF and back. Is it possible to be transferred to the palo alto office/is that office fully functioning or does it mainly serve as a hub for partners and research?

Taking care of life outside of work has really helped me. I stopped drinking, prioritize my health on the weekends and minimize stress outside my job (finances, good relationship with honest communication). Then again, if you don’t really love what you do it becomes very difficult to justify the sacrifice

The same way you keep up with the rigors of everything else. I’ll say my time here has been much less stressful and much more enjoyable on average than my time in grad school

By constantly feeling tired, exhausted, on the verge of mental collapse…it’s such a rewarding career…
I take 1-2 week of after each project, in many ways less stressful than my old corporate job as I can fully disconnect before starting something new
PTO, training, “take time”/unpaid leave, volunteering time, sometimes in combination, there are many ways… sometimes you get beach time
You try to find people you like to work with

It’s not a long term thing for most ppl, so it’s a matter of stomaching it for as long as it’s still worth it.
But yeah, I do feel tired pretty regularly. That being said, the total # of hours I work now is actually less than how much time I spent in classes/labs/studying in undergrad (engineering), so it all depends on your reference point.
