I think you need some quiet time to rethink. Don't be to hard on yourself. But also don't waste the unrecoverable resource you have (time).
You need to be intentional about figuring out what burned you out. Recognizing that will help you determine if you have the muscle for the profession and all that comes with it.
Is it just the work you did at the firm that was stressful because it was a lot? Just liking or loving something doesn't mean it will definitely work for you.
Create the time to figure it out and then start thinking about alternatives.
Let me know if this helps
This. I took time off for 4 months, and 3 of that was resting/recovering from burn out. Not saying it will take you that long, just saying take the time to rest first. Manage your needs, set boundaries, be social, enjoy life, then dive back in to career.
Goals because I don't know what I want or where I want to end up. I've been wasting most days because I feel like I'm in a slump. Anyone have a similar experience find a way back to having purpose/goals/drive in your career? How did you do it?
I quit 3 years ago and still feel unsure of what I want. Have tried several businesses that haven’t worked out, but I stay open to learning and meeting new people, and constantly give myself reassurance that this is ok and part of the process. I think we are so conditioned to always be doing and be productive that any down time feels wrong and wasteful. Embrace the moment! Eventually something will come up and it will be back to the grind and I certainly don’t want to look back and feel regret for not enjoying the “down” time life gave me.
covid. it made me realize what matters and what im truly interested in
I think it may be time for a career change. The burnout must be more than just overworked. You need to find what you’re interested is.
