I find doing something that I can engage in fully helps. I play guitar (learned as an adult) and that really helps refocus.
If that fails, I also love boxing…!
Apply for new jobs and talk to friends who see you for you. It feels amazing.
100% agree. That’s the best way
I read but lately a puzzle with wine is an amazing distraction. I just finished one that I started thanksgiving week. It was only 550 pieces, but it has been a great help to decompress bc every time I put a piece in place or multiple pieces, it satisfies my need for solving puzzles and gives an immediate sense of accomplishment. Some nights I’ll do it for 30 mins - an hr after the kids are down.
I’m 36 so this makes me feel better lol!

Glass of my favorite alcohol. A comfort show, a relaxing bath/shower. Or a good complain/ cry session with my bf or sister since they are in this field and will get it. Or a sick day tomorrow/when the deadlines over.
I also read at least a few hours a day random Happy silly fluff romance books that bring me joy.
I tend to my plants. If I don’t have any to water or repot, sometimes I just study them and see if I can spot new growth I have 150+ scattered around my apartment for an escape almost anywhere

3. Buy a power ball tickets… you just can’t have so many odds against you plus it’s a ticket for a day or two and by the time draw comes out you are over it and back in the grind
4. Cook a meal (new recipe every time) give it a name based on the theme of the day … soon you will have an alternative career as a chef
5. Gym, music movie … whatever floats your boat
Diffuse lavender oil. Instant sleeping pill

Close your laptop and give yourself 15 min to shake it off (blast music and dance, go for a walk, phone a friend). Think about what you enjoy mindlessly and do that. Take a drive, roll down the windows and scream. Take 10 min to think about what you learned that you take into tomorrow. Then Bless and release.
It’s the same way you process when your favorite team loses in a sport that you are passionate about. You drink it out, or release the frustration through the testosterone thingy (if you are male).
