I've always wondered... how often do we typically invoice clients for longer engagements? By period or by quarter?

So, 1. I am not a troll. 2. It is the middle of the night and I am working. 3. My priority is to do my job and my second one is to provide a helpful and accurate answer to a co-worker. You seem like the real troll here.

^ 👹⚪️⚪️⚪️⚪️ response. You're a dick.

Hmmm why? Deloitte has periods. I'm pretty sure that we invoice by them. Hope this ins't some state secret, but would think that it is a standard industry practice

like

Either bi weekly or monthly

By Deloitte period is heard as "Invoiced by Deloitte" not "Deloitte invoices by periods". And then answering "I'm pretty sure" means your response has no value add to this post. Therefore the 👹⚪️⚪️⚪️⚪️ still stands.

I suggest you get back to work and stop responding to this troll then bud. Hopefully one of your colleagues can answer the answer that OP had.

Also, anyone who jumps to calling someone else a "dick" over invoicing protocol is the troll

Yeah, you're not even a creative troll. Worst type! At least when I trolled about PBS earlier, all of us decided to cough up a donation.

So now instead of working you have given faulty advice and donated to PBS. 👹👹⚪️⚪️⚪️

🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓

Sorry for hijacking your thread OP.

P1- you need help! Haha

I've always done monthly even for multi year projects.

To answer the question, however often the client asks. Shorter projects are often once at midway and once at the end. Longer ones tend to be monthly but there are exceptions. May also be milestone based

The frequency may be in the contract. At least on my engagements. I've done bi-monthly and monthly but don't recall quarterly, in my exp.

So, in true consultant fashion: it depends

Typically monthly, unless agreed differently with client.

All depends sometimes quarterly but we invoice as many as we can monthly.

So sometimes we bill all hours worked in the past two weeks to the client immediately? Wow, are we always able to get this past procurement?

I couldn’t get an internship while in school. I have a BS in ME and projects from school under my belt. I’ve also passed the FE exam.
