Hey its not actually that bad. I do agree we have high working hours on avg(10 hours) and people stretch to 12 hours a day, but that depends on project and teams as well. And the be very honest, this is the case across all consulting firms, but the brighter side is the learning and challanges of working at ZS.
I have had days when I was working 16 hours/day straight for continuous 2 weeks but that was a very critical phase during the project. But that also helped me learn a lot personally.
That being said, WLB is the most important thing to be considered. I think that also can be achieved in ZS if we are able to set our boundaries properly and effective task management.
Agreed with zs3 and just so u know, no one sits on weekends
no it isn't. I know internal hikes and learning would be more in ZS. But some ppl have scared me tht that i need to slog in 12-15 hrs everyday and sometimes weekends too and ZS has 70% attrition because of WLB... Although I wanted to experience ZS and pharma consulting, but now I am scared
In most banks, 6-8 hrs of productive work is normal, 10-12 hrs is a long day at work. and 16 hrs is something unheard of. We do not have such deadlines. If there is a roadblock, the deadline is extended. I have never worked in consulting but if the team needs to extend upto 16 hrs even 1 day, it shows bad planning at the outset. Might still go for ZS as I wan to experience, and also because the internal hikes and bonuses are actually great, but sad to hear this abt hour/day. Also, 3 months notice puts u in very bad space if you want to switch.
Speaking as a manager on consulting side. The hours are 10-12 each day. Most people try to create balance around it and some even succeed but ultimately WLB is employee's responsibility. I went through the same thing when I working as a Consultant. If you need to grow here..work is your first priority
If wlb is the only criteria then go for ms
