I did a permanent transfer via global mobility. Process, including visa application etc, took about 2 months. I actually reached out to office I wanted directly and they got the global mobility process started with my former home office. On the plus side, once you get through the approvals and paperwork on the front end, PwC handled everything on the relocation side - all i had to do was book a flight. Another thing is that by transferring via GM chances of being pushed a level back are lower (e.g. Mgr to S2) and there is deemed to be no break in your tenure with the firm - if that's something you care about. Finally, once you're in the GM system I hear it's a lot easier to get the process started should you want to move again. Yes GM is notoriously slow but once the process has started in the system, no matter how long it takes there are enough people in the firm who know about it that you can be pretty sure it will not fall through.
If you are applying for a permanent job transfer then global mobility doesn't always get involved. Global mobility has zero involvement in my interview with a member firm in Europe bc I'm doing a permanent transfer.
I applied directly to the member firm. If I'd gone internal I would have hit road block after road block and it never would have happened.
If that's a thing then the member firms are breaking the rules. All that being said, your situation of PR would be attractive to them. The downside of applying to the firm directly is that you don't come with the benefit of a PwC specific recommendation (a partner who has your back for example)
Yes. LinkedIn post then to PwC website. I applied in March. They emailed me in early August (what?!?) and they've rescheduled my interview 3 times, this morning the partner that was supposed to call me and interview me was a no show.
So you could say things are going well for me. Lol. But they are going better than if I'd gone through the US firm. I know that much.
Ps to clarify it's actually the gm legal department that takes the longest so if you don't need to go through them then the process won't be too long at all
This is missing details. Have you applied for and been accepted for a secondment? Are you applying for a permanent job transfer? Visas are different than work permits and you wouldn't have a work permit yet if PwC hasn't applied/submitted it yet.
Planning to apply for a permanent job transfer to Canada from the States.
I have a PR in Canada, wouldn't need a work permit to start working there
Did you apply directly for the transfer then? Or was it an internal process.
Trying to get my head around how this works😔
I was planning on doing that too but are member firms allowed to consider your resume when you apply to them while you are still employed by another PwC location? Heard that's a thing
This is helpful! Did you just apply online then?
Woah! That's insane! What a drag🤦🏼♀️! Well good luck!
Not looking forward to this process one bit
Thank you! This is so helpful! Speaking to my RP this week...fingers crossed
