How many standards are you expected to hit within a year? Do you hit every single one each year or divide between 9&10/11-12?

9th grade hits every standard- some more explicitly than others then 10th grade hits the ones that were not as explicitly taught

We divided them between 9/10, 11 and 12 does their own thing. Senior year is mostly electives. I teach mainly 9th and we have priority standards. We cover theme, narrative writing, and argumentative writing.

With how many standards there are for 9th, there is no way possible to hit every thing. I suggest meeting with your learning team and discussing what your essential standards are and then at bare minimum what does a student need to have learned in order to move onto the next level. You can add enrichment as you go. Allow yourself time to do some Social Emotional Learning exercises and don't overload them with busy work. Make every assignment intentional and purposeful.

I may or may not hit all the standards. I don’t know because I don’t teach to them. I know, I know, I know! It’s a risky move. I don’t teach standards- I teach students. I teach them reading, writing, listening, speaking, thinking, emoting, caring, analyzing, formulating, comparing, tracing, evaluating, describing...pick a powerful word and I teach them that. I don’t worry about those broad, ambiguous standards. But then, I have tenure.

Tenure is now against state law in Michigan, has been for more than seven years.

Has anyone tried to get their CFE? Any advice? How was studying compared to CPA?Swore I’d never take another exam again after the CPA but if CFE isn’t too much work to study for it might be worth it.

Thank you PwC for giving me the chance to acquire enough Marriott points to have a completely free weekend at the Marquis in Manhattan over labor day with my wife. Job does have its perks.

Hey guys, unfortunately this week I was laid off from my firm. I took a few days to process the disappointment. Thoughts on proceeding forward? Should I mention the situation in my cover letter and what were the best methods for finding new job opportunities. Thanks for your assistance.

Is there really any benefits/perks to having Ambassador status with Marriott? I had it several years ago with Starwood but I just continued to book online...

Need advice. Met a guy in feb, talk everyday, great chemistry, shared interests, values, and goals. Problem is, before we met, I really wanted to experience living on the west coast (currently on the east) & took a job across the country, so ill have to move sometime in the near future. Unsure when I can return & he’s expressed doubts (what if you end up loving it there, etc.) Also, despite having talked for so long, we haven’t done anything physical yet (he’s in a high risk profession) (cont)

I feel upset that so many of our well-meaning clients can’t talk like real people do about subjects of basic empathy. I can’t believe that when a brand says something like “racism is bad” it’s considered an outlier. Hell, I even know racists who constantly tell me racism is bad.
