How much does everyone think they need to earn in order to be in a good financial position and raise their family?

It depends on so many factors like where you live, and how much debt you have. I could do life on a lot less if I didn't spend 1500 per month just on student loans. I’d say 180k in HCOL and 100k in LCOL.

like

In my area (semi-LCOL, we're about 5% below national average) it's possible to live modestly and support your family with a household income of 100k or so. You won't be living in a McMansion or driving a luxury vehicle, but you'll be able to afford at least a 3bdrm and have reliable transport, afford a few trips sometimes and have a comfortable savings account in case of emergencies. Considering we live right outside a large emtropolitan area I'd say 100k isn't an unrealistic goal if both parties are working (or one party has a relatively good job).

like

To raise a successful happy family without your significant other working and be kind of comfortable. 125k

So many factors! But in my area, minimum 100k. And that’s assuming you have a decent rent agreement or bought a house 5+ years ago, and don’t need or want the finer things in life! I’m in a lower cost for my state, so if you want to make good money you have to commute a bit, but then to live closer to that good money, you have to pay the price for it.

Based on the Gross salary offered I have calculated the in hand salary per month would be around 152000 considering 150000 in 80C, 50000 in NPS and 200000 deductions due to home loan interest. Total tax liability is around 400000. Any other options do I have to save tax further (other than HRA, LTA)? Thanks in advance.

Tax Senior Manager and Bowl Creator have thrown out WPF, SVOK, and AVAN recently. With these all barely above $10 (and SVOK actually temporarily below), what’s the downside to investing in these? Am I missing something? Don’t they offer you the opportunity to sell back the shares at $10 around the merge date? So max loss would be $0.12 per share on WPF (at current pricing) and $0.19 per share on AVAN?

Are there other SPAC plays that people like that seem like no brainers at these levels?

I recently joined citi. I have been given choice for to select superannuation as 13% of BS or 12500/- monthly or zero.

This is one time selection and not reversible.

I am already investing 1.5 lakh in 80C through SIP and EPF.

I need more detail about superannuation and is it beneficial or not?

Also is there any retirement age in IT field 🤔 (or in citi)?

How important are snapshots in pwc and how to handle them

Team just applied for a TS Clearance (defense agency). Trying to assess if it makes sense to wait till the clearance comes through (6 months to a year?) before I job hop. I'm hoping to get some clarity on the following:
1. Can my company withdraw or cancel my clearance if I leave right after I secure a TS?
2. In terms of compensation, how much value (% compensation) does a TS clearance have in the DC area? Places I'm considering: AWS, Azure, GCP, Data bricks, Appian etc.
Any advice, thanks!
