VP/SVP 250-320k some agencies give higher titles like Head of Strategy.
IMO the industry is flooded with what I call baby managers. People with titles and not enough experience.
VP range is more like 200-230ish. I made 215k in a NY VP role. You’d need to be an SVP or higher to make 250k+ at most agencies.
You should be a GSD on 230-270, or an ESD on 300+.
Just an alt POV: yeah, the above are correct if your goal is to climb quickly, increase your salary and dedicate MOST of your life to work. You’ll politic, win and lose accounts and pitches, hire and fire people (probably be hired and fired once or twice yourself), spend way more than 40 hours a week working….all before you hit 40. On the other hand….almost all of us have to work until we’re 65. This is a young person’s industry and there’s only so many spots at the top - getting them is tough - keeping them is even harder. Just something to be said for a slow burn and maybe even letting yourself pause at each step a little longer than you “should”
These comments are a little delulu. Few agencies are eager to higher super senior expensive talent right now. I’m at a similar level of experience and I’m in an SD role, having been in more senior roles before. The market is a disaster. It’s a huge win if you can score anything Director+ at a reputable agency right now. I’d say Director seems to be in the 160-190 range
Yep. That’s exactly what the market is like right now.
