How strict is Goodwin’s 4 day RTO policy? Any flexibility at all?

A lot of flexibility once they lay you off.

Nobody says they're the only ones that do it, so nice try at strawman. They're one of the ones who do it on an extreme level. There was an article on the number of laterals Goodwin plowed through, the churn/pushouts was insane. https://www.law.com/americanlawyer/2023/02/09/how-goodwin-procter-turned-1000-lateral-associates-into-250/

And then their social media PR guy had to post on fish owl that their layoffs stopped. Embarrassing, I don't know if you're some summer associate there but I'm never not going to call them out for this whenever I see their name

depends on group tbh, but A1 has a point too… can dm for more info

Not strict if you’re a good associate. It’s just an excuse to fire bad associates tbh

I’m working with a senior associate that is constantly over billing and creating work that no one wants/asks for. Any advice on how to handle this? Note that I am a mid-level and have been party to all client communications so know for a fact that this work is not necessary.

Weighing whether another year of IB experience would be helpful, or would just make me one year older at the same starting point in PE.
I’m 1.5 years out of college as an analyst at a middle market bank within the healthcare M&A group. Getting worked a lot but starting to operate as an associate on deals. Debating accepting an offer for a newer, lower-MM healthcare and growth focused PE firm. I know I want to go to PE at some point, but what are some thoughts on when you should go?

Mid 2020, I turned down an opportunity to jump ship from my small law firm to a big law firm. At the time I had 4 years of practice under my belt with managerial experience. I thought the offer was reasonable, come in at a 2nd year level, but with the uncertainty of the times I played it safe. Now I regret it. What avenues do I have, if any, to jump into big law from a small firm?

People who don’t submit their time daily, how do you remember what you did and for how long? I’ve always just submitted each timer as soon as I finish a task—“call with x re y” really doesn’t take that long even if I’m busy, and if I don’t do it immediately I’ll forget all those little I did in the morning by the time I go to bed. No shade at all to those with different systems, just genuinely curious because I see a lot about catching up at month end on here and I have no idea how that works??

If you’re succeeding on all the right metrics (i.e., leadership loves you, clients love you, you’re participating on pitches, you’ve brought in clients, and you’re set up to inherit a book of business), but you’re still not super into it, being promoted to income partner won’t change things, right? Worth sticking out to see or jumping to go in house at a pre-IPO, late stage startup you find super exciting and interesting?
