How the hell do you guys do it? I am trying to build my own book while working for a firm. I go to these doctor networking events etc. Schmooze and they all want our referrals but I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO GIVE THEM! and they don't give me anything because they're almost always being fed by some other lawyers. :( seems like the only way I can survive is trying to find a bigger firm willing to give me their low hanging fruit. Would seriously appreciate any wisdom/guidance. Thank you for your attn.

Has anyone received equity as contingency comp? I have a potential client with a founders dispute. He doesn’t have cash, and the other founder ripped him off and is now running the company.
