Hi ladies! First gen Latina corporate lawyer here. I’ll be relocating from DC to NYC soon. Recognizing how hard it is to find diversity in the workplace even in the most diverse cities, I’ve joined this bowl in hopes of contributing to building a community among my fellow Latina lawyers. How do I jump ship from FP&A? My dream job used to be education or something more creative and I want to make that switch.

Have you been fired before even starting your new job?

I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). They were very keen on getting me on-board ASAP before signing but since I signed the contract it has been silent from the new employee. I've emailed them with questions as I'll be re-locating to NL and it takes them 1-2 weeks to reply. Given all that's going on in the world, I'm worried they might fire me before I even start.

Is their still pre-IPO side upside if you make the move to Stripe?

I’ve worked at places that all have different holiday policies. EA has at minimum a nice 10 day shutdown from Christmas Eve through New Years. It’s great to know that there will be no slack messages or an exploded inbox to come back to while away. I’ve been at other studios that only give you Christmas Eve & Day and New Years Eve & Day and then the rest is up to you to request for PTO and this is obviously the suck.

I was devastated when I realized I had to cut my twin sister and even my mom to some degree out of my life in order to have peace of mind. It makes me sad I feel better without their burdens. ☹️

I was planning to decline a job offer at McKinsey and before I could email he called and asked for final decision and I said I cannot join due to a personal reason, which is the case in reality and just mention I was about to drop an email and apologised for the inconvenience.

He called me unprofessional and said you could have informed. I know I am at fault as well as the offer was released on Monday.

Sort of feeling guilt now, anyways to overcome this?

I have offer from Cognizant and they are promising that they will initiate my Canada visa in next quarter. I spoke to them and they assured over call. Also, my current employer accenture is also saying the same to retain me. Should I believe Cognizant?
Which company is good when compared to Canada onsite? Please share your inputs per your experience!

I have done my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engg and Masters in Industrial Management (Europe). I didn't do enough research on Visa extension before enrolling into the course and had to come back to India after studies.
Now in the job market my Masters is not considered and all the job calls are based on my Btech degree. Every time I have applied for Big4 or consultant opening the HRs response ends with a similar note ie we consider students with top B schools and hiring is only via campus
