Just cite the ECF #.
Can you use an example?
Aasociate 1's is for federal courts only I believe since it has a document number for every filing. If it is a state court, and your state doesn't have a particular local way to do it, I do it like this:
As Defendant stated in its own Memorandum in Support of Defendant's Motion for Summary Judgment filed on May 1, 2020 (the "Memorandum"), the Court bla bla bla lawyer stuff bla. Memorandum, [Paragraph symbol] 4. Moreover, Defendant's Memorandum contains no relevant law regarding bla bla and the contract contains no requirement Plaintiff bla bla. Id., [paragraph symbol] 6, Ex. 1.
I think the cite should just be “ECF #, p. #.” If you look from past orders from the judge, you can probably see how they cited to the record
Pretty sure there is a specific blue book rule for this too in case your state courts don’t have electronic filing (which at this point, I have yet to understand the refusal to switch). It’s similar to A2 but I’m fairly certain there are abbreviations. Taking his example I’d state in the sentence what memo you’re citing to and then for the actual citation it’s like Def.’s Mem. at p._
No biggie A4. There is no way of knowing anyone's gender on here, which is kinda nice in a way. And all of the state courts I work in do not have a docket number, only the federal courts do. I had no idea, and am very jealous, that some state courts have docket numbers! Attached is how Oregon State Courts looks. No numbers 😢
