Everyone makes mistakes. I’m a midlevel, and I’ve seen even partners make some pretty embarrassing and glaring elementary mistakes that I’ve never made lol. The real question is how serious the mistakes are and whether you’re learning from them. I try not to lose sleep over mistakes that are fixable and unlikely to create meaningful risk for the client or the firm. What matters is identifying what went wrong, correcting it, and making sure it doesn’t become a recurring issue. At some point, you also have to chalk the rest up to being human
They call it the “practice” of law for a reason. No one is perfect and anyone who expects complete perfection is delusional. Try not to hold yourself to impossible standards.
You need a little self compassion friend.
I feel like people make it seem like mistakes are the end of the world (and of course we should endeavor to make as few as possible), but they are unavoidable; especially depending on workload and time pressure. That said I think as long as you take steps to correct you will be fine. I struggle with mistakes when I get super swamped and am also learning to let go and realize my mistakes don’t necessarily define me or erase the ~95% great work I do!

Even parents make mistake. As long as you’re readily available, responsive, helpful, you’ll be just fine. Senior folks released from escrow signature pages without client’s approval in a big financing deal and the client actually reopened items afterwards and they’re still here. So just take it easy, do your best and you’ll be OK
Parents CERTAINLY make mistakes
I have screwed up spectacularly and people took it as an « eh, we’ll deal with it » and had typos in a pitch document and was chewed out over it for hours. All depends on context but generally as someone else has commented « practice of law »…
