They are not calling back.even though I'm ready to take pay cut. How to approach this situation.

New joinee. Got into a project with 11 to 8 shift.. but the manager expecting to work over time and complete tasks even if it is assigned at 7.30 .. is this common in deloitte ? I dont like extending after 9 hours and planning to push back. I dont mind getting poor rating. Project is also not allocated on my primary skill. Can i ask release within a month in first project?

I want to hear everyone's honest opinions on unlimited PTO policies. Call me old-fashioned, but I miss having an allotted number of days we were allowed to use annually. Seems like there are no companies following that model anymore. Unlimited PTO messes with my head and for some reason I get more paranoid about what people are thinking if I do.

Red flags? I had an interview today and asked how the interviewers would describe the culture. They both took deep breaths and looked down. The first one said “it’s getting better.” And then went on to talk about the new ceo making the place more family like. The second interviewer said “there are definitely some strong personalities here.” And then went on to talk about some team members being uptight and others being chill. These seemed like red flags to me. Thoughts?

Question for first-generation Blacks with immigrant parents. Do your parents or other family who was born in the home country consider you whatever nationality they are? Do they allow you to embrace the culture? Or do they remind you in different ways that no you are not Nigerian, Ghanaian, Jamaican etc but you are American? Female here who hates firm emphasis on "diversity". 11 years of consulting and zero examples of discrimination. Biggest fear is promotion based on increasing women executives and not ability.

I am noticing that McKinsey is increasingly recruiting at non-elite schools (very roughly speaking not top 15 schools). At my old undergrad, 5 years ago the most competitive firm to show up was EY. This year McKinsey took 4 non-internship full hires. Why is McKinsey going “down market” for recruiting? Are elite school kids losing interest in consulting so McK has to cast a wider net? Or is McK seeking a wider pool for other reasons? I advise undergrads on consulting so want to be best informed.
