I am a family doctor with 25 years of experience. I’m seriously considering switching to an integrative and functional medicine private cash practice.

If you have yourself already made this type of transition, what has your financial experience been like? I would be setting up in the Irvine, Laguna, San Clemente area of Orange County, CA, so the amount of competition is going to be an unknown variable. Any advice from those who have made or making this transition would be greatly appreciated!

Have I made the transition from being a family doctor for 25 years to an integrative and functional medicine private cash practice? No, I have not.

I have not, but my doctor did and he’s never looked back. It was a busy practice to begin with. He then announced the change, gave a 6 month window for people to sign up or leave. He charges $8,000 a year, or $12,000 for a married couple and has 300 patients. No charge for bloodwork, visits, conversations, texts, anything. Super responsive. Only charge is for supplements if you choose to buy from him (sold close to cost)
I realize this is a high cost, but people pay for premium service if it’s of value to them.

Planning a trip to Rome and Naples with day trips to Tivoli and Pompeii. Is 1 week enough? I feel like reading through 3/4 day Rome and 2 day Naples itineraries, the trip seems rushed. I have unlimited PTO but my SO is limited in time (but luckily he can work extra hrs and then use less PTO). I would say max we could do is 1.5 weeks but adding on 3-5 more days seems almost too much? Thoughts? For reference, I did Venice-Florence-Rome in a week and it seemed okay but it also wasn’t as planned out

There’s been some posts on the best planning tools (e.g. planners, calendars, etc.), but my question is how do ppl make sure they use them? I get them and am excited about the possibility of them helping for about a week then I just stop using it. Even if I find it helpful I just never stay consistent with it. Does this happen to others? Any tricks or suggestions to stay consistent using planners, to do lists, calendars, etc.

Had my annual review Friday (first year with the company). Boss awarded a 3% raise though she said my review was “90% positive.” Worth adding I got a 3% sign on bonus last year, so I’m basically at 0% raise. Nobody under me has gotten less than a 7% raise in the past year. Considering promotions + counter offers as well, it goes as high as 25%. I don’t feel a 3% raise matches a “90% positive” review and plan to bring up the cognitive dissonance I’m feeling. Any other tips or advice to add?

I have a tenant who is late on rent after having JUST signed an updated lease last month when we bought the property from the previous owner. He has a history of being late on rent. He paid 8 days late and the check bounced. He is now 17 days late and saying the late fees are too much and unfair. We have a meeting set with him tonight and my question is whether we should cut him slack, or make him pay up or leave. Fee details are in comment 1

Does anyone think it’s weird that my firm is bending over backwards to try to keep a first year staff from leaving the firm after she was rated a 2 this year. But now she’s trying to leave and they keep trying to push her to stay saying she can be a partner in 8-9 years and laying it all out in detail. The issue is they laid off other staff (all but her) so maybe that’s it? Find it very odd.
