I am a fifth year investment management associate (I do GP and LP work) looking to potentially retool into trusts and estates. Anyone have any experience doing this?

Why? Why give up a chance at becoming in-house counsel at a fund for great job stability while earning 300K+?

Thanks so much

There aren't a ton of big law firms that have sizeable T&E practices. Think it would be tough.

like

Tbh, if you have enough money saved up you can do this almost immediately. But first get a basic understanding of T&E in your state and if you’re open to it, estate litigation (this is a big money maker). Get referrals from county bar association and you can build a practice relatively quickly. If you want to do more sophisticated planing, enrolling in part time LLM program would help. Doesn’t need to be nyu or Georgetown if your not looking for big law

Agreed! Hoping to connect with some people soon and get some opportunities if you hear of anything.

Ropes and Choate have strong wealth practices.

Don’t necessarily need to go into big law. I think my ultimate goal would be to open my practice one day.

Anyone here from Hudson County NJ and follows politics?
I am NJ-8, and would like to vote for most progressive candidate on the ballot but no candidate except for the corporate shill/ son of corrupt nepo Menendez, has a fully developed site and I just cannot in good conscience vote for him just because he has a D next to him. Just moved to this district 2 months so any guidance appreciated.

What can I do if I believe I’m being overcharged for utilities. I was charged prorated around 125 for 11 days for water and electricity (this is my share in a four bedroom apartment). I think this is crazy expensive for utilities for 11 days. I did just move to Austin, is it normal for utilities to be this high ?

Completely and totally miserable at my firm and just need a space to vent because my friends are tired of hearing about it. I wish the worst part about it was the amount of work, rather than the completely toxic culture, lack of appreciation, arbitrary and back/breaking deadlines, lack of mentorship/feedback/training, and the fact that the associates act like they don’t even know each other. I cry every day and constantly am made to feel stupid for not understanding the highly technical (cont.)

Joined a big firm (Big4) not long a go and starting to feel like I got a good grip on my current work.

I've always been very technical, so I think that the only thing I am missing now is making sales. (I really wanna make partner)

Can any seasoned lawyer share tips and materials (i.e. books) which can help?
