I also have a strong background in mechanical engineering but I am currently working at a call center. I could not get into Tesla, Boeing, SpaceX or Lockheed, its been such a struggle and I had a 3.8 GPA. My best advice is to look into working at a restaurant or a call center.
Wow. Speechless. Your worth is definitely not tied to these companies. Try any small local business? Get in contact with an alumni group or honor society, might be helpful. I’m praying for ya and OP.
Tesla is currently experiencing a loss of sales in their vehicles dating as far back as mid-2024. The loss of their sales last year caused them to have a 10% workforce reduction in April. They don't have a single mechanical engineering position open.
I only know two people who did internships at Tesla, one of my graduating class and the other was my TA. Both of them ended up working at different companies following graduation. What you're looking for is an extremely competitive and niche area to get into.
Why Tesla ? Why don't consider other company ?
