The firm I work for (land development-West Coast market) offers Senior Civil PM's 125K-170K (+ $10,000 sign-on bonus), with 8+ years experience and a PE license. Hope that helps! And hey, if you're looking for a change, we're hiring for senior level engineers in the Seattle and Sacramento area.
I think you spend little bit more time in the PE role. Do you consider to jump to be a PM ?
I am on a PM track. Different companies run differently. Where I am we are a good size company and have a lot of big projects. In my position we are basically responsible for most of the project management tasks such as being responsible for the design, managing junior staff, managing all project tasks, coordinating with internal and external project teams, client meetings, municipal and state meetings (not all as the PM attends most). Leading the construction processes. I am just not fully responsible for proposals and budgets (just help with input, putting them together, and making sure the team sticks to them) and I do not have to do any marketing or client relations to generate work.

I think that is low. Unfortunately, civil engineering firms are being run like private equity firms. Keeping salaries low and making less people perform more work. Punch up your resume. Also, ask for a raise - use comparisons you’ve found and list all of your accomplishments. That way, if you’re denied, you hurt less feeling when you leave. The industry is small, so maintaining relationships it’s important.
