I am a UX designer and have spoken with a potential client who intially wanted to redesign the navigation and landing page of their site. They showed me analytics saying only .35% of users open the main menu (most access different pages through Google search and then leave the site) so it's not worth the time to redesign. I see a lot of growth potential here, but they don't see the value in good nav if users don't already use it. How do I show them the value of good nav? Should I just let it go?

Ooooooof I think that you’re the expert here and your hunch is probably right. I used to work at an agency and when we were trying to nudge a client in a different direction than they had in mind, here are a few things that worked.

I’d start with an audit of competitors and companies adjacent to them. Show them that these competitors’ navs and explain and educate your client on why the comps navs are better. Show them what big companies are doing as well, like Google, Amazon, Apple and other tech and consumer giants that are adjacent to what your client does.

Map out the user journey and show the client that users are coming to various pages from different places.

Talk about some user personas, use them to create empathy. Use them to help your client envision themselves as a different person with different goals, emotions and contexts. Clients often forget that they’re not the users.

Pop into Baymard and see if there are any UX research articles that prove your hunch / point.

Offer to do a round of user testing of some sort. Or AB testing to see any change.

Show the client their idea and say we can go this route (you always need to hear them and their ideas) offer to test it.

Present your counter arguments with confidence. And always present routes for them to go and present solutions with positivity and optimism.

So much of talking to a client and changing their mind is about storytelling, creating really easy to follow and interesting decks, and changing a clients mind over time, not all at once. Don’t let it go hehe your hunch is probably right! Good luck!!!

Hi Guys,

I am a ReactJS developer (frontend) with 3.8 years of experience. I currently switched my company but they don't have an opening for ReactJS and kept me on a bench for 3 months and they are telling me now to learn AEM technology and work on the AEM project for now.
They hired me for a package of 16 LPA.
So my questions are is it a good technology to learn? Should I say yes and have a career in it?
Will I get the same package like ReactJS or less? What is future if compared with React?

Hello Folks,
Can you pls advise on which company to go for.
R-Systems : They are providing WFH + clarity on the project and team for which I’ll be working upon.
CTS : No clarity as of now, only thing I am aware is that I’m a part of full stack community.
HCL : Some clarity on the project but less package than other two.
R-Systems and CTS are giving same CTC.
YOE ~8
Skill set : . Net full stack + Angular + Azure

I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?

Home reno financing question. Have a big project coming up in the $120-150k range. Funding sources are:
- 90k from a heloc around prime
- 10k from a credit card that offers promo checks at 2-3% for 12-18 months
- 375k in a brokerage
- 5-6k per month cash that I can put towards the project, loans, or brokerage

I don't want to stop funding the brokerage because my FIRE plan is less numbers based than "hoard like dragon until it's enough" but maybe I should... How would you optimize?

Got a call from the resource management team to relocate, which I rejected upfront as I was promised a role in the location I am posted. It has been over 2 weeks since I am in bench. What shall be the next steps, shall I wait for some days or start looking for other jobs as getting a project looks difficult as there are minimalist responses.

For those that work at an agency: what does your team structure look like? As UX or UI contributors are you on a creative team, product, something else? And I'm curious about reporting and management structure as well.

I’m transitioning from Art Director to UX/UI Designer. As an AD, I’ve worked on UX/UI but it wasn’t the only thing I did. I don’t know how to title myself on my resume with all my experience being an AD and/or Designer though.

Does anyone have some advice on how to approach applying to jobs during this transition?
