I am freaking out a bit because a firm I worked at a few years ago just did an event with a firm I am applying to currently - how screwed am I? Has this happened to anyone else? I didn't leave on bad terms, but I do wonder if it would take me out of the running for the position- or am I just over reacting?

I don't understand why this would matter.

like

I'm still not following. Because you worked at another firm? People switch firms all the time.

like

You're overthinking this. 99% of people won't make the connection, so don't bring it up.

like

And even if they made the connection, I still don’t see the problem? lol Now, if OP said they burned a bridge at their old firm, I’d get the concern

like

totally overthinking this.

like

Way overthinking. You’re fine.

like

Take a deep breath. You are definitely overthinking this.

like

Overthinking. Unless the firms are opposite sides of the v in litigation and you are worried that you will be conflicted out of a lot of matters or something? That is also not the end of the world.

Controversial question - what are some roles/functions to avoid at Google for ex-management consultants, in terms of potential under-utilization of skills and limited career progression? Common exit opps tend to be in StratOps, PMM, PgM/Solutions Consultant, roles in Sales; would anyone not recommend any of these roles?

I started working for a bank and am going through the background check. They found an arrest which was dismissed and the file was sealed a few days after the check. They’re requesting the police report on top of the court order to seal. The police report is BAD. During the arrest (DUI) they wrote the report to make me seem like a complete lunatic. Embellished on several elements of the case. I am worried that giving them this report will cause me to be let go.

This is not my wheelhouse so I’m not sure of the answer. If someone is writing a “memoir” and is including me in it, and I DONT want to be in the book, do I have any legal recourse? I understand since it’s been published it doesn’t meet any invasion of privacy or potential defamation yet, but is there something I can do preliminarily to protect myself and stop my inclusion?

How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.

I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be?
