Where/ how can I learn Azure?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

In my old company one of the designers asked to do more technical things. On top of designing, he got to do some basic coding. Through that, he asked to take on more responsibility as a developer and eventually made a full transition. Fast forward a few years and now he's a lead developer.
If you're in a big company, I'd suggest to try moving within it and using that as leverage. It's typically going to be harder for you to switch while also switching companies. However, it's not impossible. I'd suggest either taking a boot camp for some proper training and having them assist you with finding a job (I did that for my entry in to development) or otherwise you'll likely be applying to be a developer with many personal projects under your belt while working as a designer.
Yeah I took General Assembly but there are many others that you can take. It also depends where you are located.
I think the portfolio point made earlier makes a huge difference. I know someone who pivoted but they essentially took on quite a few side projects to build up that experience and then made the jump. You kinda have to make your own opportunities in this space.
Isn't that the truth?!
It is possible to get a job in less than a yr. Have a portfolio of stuff you have coded and apply aggressively. Network your way in.
Be graceful to yourself if it doesn't work out in a yr. As long as you are doing the right things it will work out.
Here's an article with a list of boot camps with job guarantees: https://www.coursereport.com/blog/coding-bootcamp-job-guarantees-guide I'm sure it would help you if you aren't able to switch internally or find anything with a portfolio. Maybe try applying for a couple of months and then plan to start a boot camp in the spring if you haven't gotten anywhere with a portfolio & applying...
