I am looking for a new job after almost 9 years at one company. I am finding the job application process to be alot longer, and a bit more confusing.

Should I apply via GlassDoor/Indeed/LinkedIn?
Should I reach out to a recruitment agency for help, and if so, which one?
How do I know when a job opportunity sent by email or text is actually real?

Job portals are useless in this market. Use them to simply found out who are hiring, then directly apply to those companies. Additionally, use LinkedIn to identify who the concerned manager/director is and reach out to them using Snovio or Hunter tools to push for a no-commitment conversation.

It’s tedious but better than endless applications on Glassdoor, LinkedIn “easy apply” and Indeed. These get you nowhere.

I would say to have a profile on any and all job boards you want with your profile available for all to contact you, apply for jobs on the job boards and company websites, network, try your local Career Force / Work Force Center, and apply, apply apply.
I use Indeed, Glassdoor, and ZipRecruiter, CareerBuilder / Monster, and a local board (MinnesotaWorks.net). I just started using ZipRecruiter and maybe a day or so later got a response and an interview request.
It is pretty easy to notice the scam emails from the others.
If you know how to spot a Scam or phishing email you will notice the same things. Just go with your gut. Think of how you would compose an email if you were a recruiter.
I would really be leery of a headhunter as they could just be suggesting and submitting you for jobs which are posted on the free job boards that you can do yourself plus most employment agencies will just have temporary, contract, or contact / temporary to hire roles.
Right now the job market and economy are bad so you have recruiters getting tons of applications plus just in the last 5 years I have noticed a decline in the work ethic. There is lots of ghosting going on with recruiters as well. I was shocked to find out that some candidates are even ghosting employers.
You might want to check out some of the recruiters YouTube videos to be able to get tips and tricks on the job search and interviewing.

Currently making $75k, which is very low compared to my counterparts. However, in February I’m supposed to get a salary adjustment with my yearly review. I got a job offer for $120k-150k which I turned down cuz I want to stay at Adobe.

How/when do I use this to leverage a good salary adjustment in Feb?

Anyone out there have advice on finding the right position for you? A job can sound one way on paper, but you don’t know what the worst day in that role will feel like. Additionally, how would you go about finding more hidden/obscure titles that could possibly be the best match?

Is this new job DOA? I’ve been in my new role 6 weeks after interviewing extensively and getting 5 offers and thinking back on those offers I turned down. I picked this company bc I liked their product and the manager, but I’m already feeling 1. REALLY silo-ed . Not a collaborative environment (even though I’m perfectly capable of doing my own thing.)Like I have entire days I don’t talk to anyone 2. Can’t seem to get my boss’s attention on my priorities that truly should be huge company issues

Anyone been ghosted by Apple? I’m seven interviews in and heard zero from my recruiter. I’ve followed up a few times. Their response ‘you’re in the mix, please be patient’ I don’t feel I can follow up again but deeply frustrating after so much time and effort

So back in July I went out for a new position at my small company that was rapidly expanding (Account Manager). Was notified that I didn't get the full promotion but was told instead that I was still moving up and was going to be Customer Service/Account Manager Support. The new Account Manager had no customer service experience within our niche industry. I instead had to help help him with all customer service issues.

I feel like I am being taken advantage of. ADVISE APPRECIATED.

Questions about job hopping-
My average tenure at a company is ~1.5 years (with ~11 YOE), but each jump I've made has yielded progressive/tangible career growth.

I'm concerned after my most recent jump (went from a product director to a head of product position at a different, smaller company after only a year) that I've kind of poisoned future career prospects at larger companies.

Any insights on whether this type of job hopping is a complete deal breaker for potential HMs?

I’ve had my eye on a “Delivery Transformation Change and Communications Consultant” position at Deloitte. Does anyone work here that could give some insight into this position/department or one like it? And is there anyone who has worked in marketing and shifted to communications/consulting…what are your thoughts on a career shift?

Recently, i was "promoted" or, I should say, my title was changed to the next ring up the ladder. As a part of this, I went from reporting to Senior Management, to Junior Management. The Jr. Manager has good intentions, but, is not helpful. I've worked at the company longer, have accomplished more across multiple lines of business and have a much stronger internal network. Am I overreacting thinking this is a major slight that will ultimately slow down my growth within the company?

Does the addition of “(level) II” make a difference to anybody? I am the only marketing communications specialist for a lead child-welfare nonprofit. We oversee four counties in two circuits. Director recently gave me add’l merit-based raise (after my annual raise, been here 14 months) & slight title change to Marketing Comm Specialist II. No plans to add a level 1 (would be lower) specialist but will add level 1 engagement specialist to team. Should I update resume/cards or is this confusing?

I'm really struggling to land any interviews. I'm wondering whether there's anyone in marketing, comms or consulting who might be able to look over it and tell me what it is I'm missing/doing wrong? 🙏

Hi all! Currently in the process of a career pivot and had a question. My current company wants me to come back for a two week project in August. Is this too big of an ask on a new employer if I request unpaid leave for this time? I had asked them about delaying start date until this project is over but it was too far away, and I’ll start this month instead but haven’t yet. I don’t want to leave or start on a bad note so wondering if it’s even worth bringing up. Thanks!

Hey folks, I work in marketing and program management and, along with everyone else, the recession is hitting me hard financially. When I try to find companies that pay well, they’re all in tech… but all those companies are laying off, freezing and rescinding offers (had one rescinded myself) 😕 so my question to all of you - what industries/sectors are still in demand for marketers/program managers right now that actually pay well?

I’ve been a creative strategist, account manager (both agency) and an ad sales operations manager (television/digital media) and I’m tired of bouncing around. I’m trying to narrow down paths that I can take now, but am at a loss. There are so many ways I could go. Because of my last two roles I have a great interest in creative operations type positions, but I’m not quite sure how actually land the job. Any thoughts?

Just got let go from my second agency job in six months because of client budget cuts. Anyone got any advice for moving to client side??
